Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pitman-Hughes, 1972 and 2014

Both by Dan Bagan

Wanna see my cry like a baby? Ask me who these women were.

Hughes’ father was beaten nearly to death by the KKK when she was a kid, and what does she do? Become an activist to try and stop that from happening to other people. She raised money to bail civil rights protesters out of jail. She helped women get out of abusive situations by providing shelter for them until they got on their feet. She founded an agency that helped women get to work without having to leave their children alone, because childcare in the 1970s? Not really a thing. In fact, a famous feminist line in the 70s was “every housewife is one man away from welfare.”

Then she teamed up with Steinman to found the Women’s Action Alliance, which created the first battered women’s shelters in history. They attacked women’s rights issues through boots on the ground activism, problem solving, and communication. They stomped over barriers of race and class to meet women where they were: mostly mothers who wanted better for themselves and their children.

These are women are who I always wanted to be.

Let’s not forget that these ladies are STILL out there grinding on the front lines for feminism.

I know Lord of the Flies is supposed to be a very meaningful and symbolic book, but can we just talk about the fact that at the beginning of the book, Jack gives the fact that he can sing a C# as a legitimate reason for why he should be chief

MY CLASS NEVER GOT OVER THIS AND FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR WHENEVER SOMEONE DIDN’T WANT TO DO SOMETHING THEY SAID “but i can sing C# i shouldnt have to do it” AND IT STILL IS FUNNY TO ME

Fidget Rings are rings that help you fidget, and are sure to make everyone around you uncomfortable.

#OKAY BUT THIS COULD ALSO BE SUPER FUCKING USEFUL FOR PEOPLE???#ESPECIALLY CHILDREN IN SCHOOL WHO CAN’T SIT STILL AND GET LABELED DEVIANTS BECAUSE OF IT?#LIKE I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN WAY LESS OF A LITTLE SHIT IF I HAD HAD EVEN A SMALL OUTLET LIKE THIS FOR MY ENERGY BACK THEN

Or people with anxiety who normally bite nails or pick at skin o.o

Like I would want this. I fidget all the time and it’s soothing. My boyfriend has a r20 for him to fidget with when he’s anxious.

Screw making people uncomfortable, OP, how about making oneself comfortable??

i need this

who the fuck would be uncomfortable by that wtf get a damn life
